Dense winter medicine

Some words through a dense winter season…

Aches and pains, at first sight when you come knocking at my door, you’re easily seen as a disruption, a barrier, a nuisance. You come in loud and as much as I want to slam the door on you, you’re awfully hard to ignore.

Perhaps you’re here for something? What is it that you need?

With a smidge more curiosity and openness over fear, I invite you in. I do my best to get to know you.

We may not be best friends straight away but what I have gauged so far is that…

Aches and pains, you’ve arrived as my gateway in.

A gesture to meet myself again and again.

As real as you feel, a reminder that you are not all of who I am.

That all you are longing for, is to be loved, to be held and cared for.

So thank you, truly, thank you.

For each time you arrive, I get to meet myself a little deeper.

Me and all my weather.

You are a blessing disguised.
