Somatic Inquiry
Somatic inquiry is a body-based approach that works with the nervous system, not just the mind. Rather than talking about your experience, we learn to listen to it. To slow down enough to notice what's actually happening beneath the surface, and to build the kind of inner steadiness that no amount of thinking can create.
In a world that asks us to push through, override, and strive for better, this is an invitation in the opposite direction. Toward your own body. Toward what it already knows.
This work tends to find people at particular crossroads - navigating anxiety or overwhelm, a nervous system that feels stuck in overdrive or strangely, flatly quiet. The exhaustion that sleep doesn't touch. A sense of disconnection from the body, from inner experience, from themselves. Emotional weight that talk therapy has circled but not quite reached. Or simply a longing for a different kind of resilience, not the push-through kind, but the kind that comes from actually knowing yourself from the inside out.
If any of that sounds familiar, you are in the right place.
"You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves." - Mary Oliver
Sessions are gentle, collaborative, and unhurried. We follow the pace of your nervous system, not a protocol, not a predetermined structure. What you bring on the day shapes where we go.
Rather than pushing for release or forcing the body to perform its healing, we work with what feels safe and available. The body knows the way. My role is to create the conditions in which it can remember that.
Within a session you might experience:
Guided body awareness - learning to notice sensation without needing to interpret or fix it
Tracking what arises, moment to moment, with curiosity rather than judgement
Breath and nervous system tools that build capacity over time
Resourcing and grounding - finding what already feels steady before moving toward what doesn't
Gentle exploration of patterns the body has been holding, often for a very long time
Every session unfolds differently. There is no blueprint for what your nervous system needs, only attention, patience, and a willingness to follow what's there.
My Approach
A note on my training & experience.
I bring over 1,500 hours of trauma-informed yoga, meditation, and facilitation training, alongside craniosacral therapy and my ongoing Somatic Experiencing training. This work is offered as somatic support informed by these approaches, not as a substitute for clinical mental health care.
I bring both the training and the personal terrain. This is not work I know only from the outside, I have been, and continue to be, a student of my own terrain. That changes how I sit with yours.
Sessions are available in person and online.
In person: Northern Rivers, Australia (May–November) · Kaikōura, New Zealand (from November)
Online: available year round, wherever you are.
