SOMATIC INQUIRY
Somatic inquiry is a body led approach that works from the bottom up. Here, we learn a new language. The story held within the nervous system, tissues and breath. Narrative of the mind alone can lead us some of the way, however with the body included, the path can become clearer and can be traced further. Slowly we make our way, making contact with signals, impulses and whispers, fostering a relationship with the felt sense of what it is to be an authentic and alive human.
In a world that asks us to steer our attention away from our very own vessel, override, and always strive for better, this is an invitation to float downstream. Toward your own body. Toward what it already knows.
This work tends to find people when their own beat of the drum calls - times of anxiety or overwhelm, a tricky at times journey. Living with a system that feels stuck in too muchness or instead too little. A dullness that doesn’t quite lift. A fatigue that lingers. A sense of disconnection from expression, creativity and connection. Living with the aches and pains of a chronic illness. Emotional weight that talk therapy has circled but not quite reached. Or simply a longing for a different kind of resourcefulness, not the continual reach and pull kind outside of you, but the kind that comes from in the moment, from self and the land.
If any of that sounds or feels resonant, I hear you. You’re welcome here as you.
"You do not have to be good. You do not have to walk on your knees for a hundred miles through the desert repenting. You only have to let the soft animal of your body love what it loves." - Mary Oliver
Sessions are gentle, in partnership and unhurried. We follow the pace of your nervous system, not a protocol, not a predetermined structure. What you arrive with on the day shapes where we go.
Big cathartic releases have become a wellness trend these days and whilst we are inviting the body to unwind and release where it can, we do so from a safe, resourced container. This process can feel and look differently for everyone but at the core is about a natural re-organising in which the body knows what to do. Rather than pushing for release or forcing the body to perform any kind of healing, we work with what feels safe and available. The body knows the way. Our role together is to create the conditions in which it can remember that.
Within a session you might experience:
Guided body awareness - learning to notice sensation without needing to interpret or fix it
Tracking what arises, moment to moment, with curiosity rather than judgement
Breath and nervous system tools that build capacity over time
Resourcing and grounding - finding what already feels steady before moving toward what doesn't
Gentle exploration of patterns the body has been holding, often for a very long time through titrating and pendulation
Every session unfolds differently. There is no blueprint for what your nervous system needs, only attention, patience, and a willingness to follow what's there.
My Approach
A note on my training & experience.
With over 1,500 hours of yoga, meditation and somatic training, alongside a background in health coaching and ongoing studies in craniosacral therapy and Somatic Experiencing. This work is offered as somatic support informed by these approaches, not as a substitute for clinical mental health care.
Knowing that trauma happens in isolation and repair happens in connection, my own steadfast commitment to tending to my ever-unfolding lived experience is at the core of how I approach this work. This is not something I know only from the outside. I have been, and continue to be, a student of my own inner landscape.
Because that is how true repair happens, together.
Sessions are available in person and online.
In person: Northern Rivers, Australia (May–September) · Mount Maunganui, New Zealand (from September)
Online: available year round, wherever you are.
